P-Cable systems are used by industry and academia to acquire high-resolution 3D subsurface images. The P-Cable technology has been applied to a variety of targets, ranging from marine exploration, site surveys and geohazard assessment to 4D seismic imaging and applied marine geology. More than 70 surveys worldwide have been acquired from arctic and tropical latitudes, and more than 100 peer reviewed publications and abstracts have been published based on these data.

About the Company
P-Cable 3D Seismic AS is an R&D company devoted to the development and commercialization of the patented P-Cable technology. The technology development started in 2001, lead by Sverre Planke and Christian Berndt. The P-Cable system was developed and patented by Volcanic Basin Petroleum Research (VBPR) in Oslo. P-Cable 3D Seismic AS was established as an independent company in 2008 and has since formed partnerships with several other companies and institutions to commercialize the P-Cable technology. Geometrics Inc. manufactures and sells the P-Cable system since 2010.

The revolutionary P-Cable concept was first tested in 2001 and in 2004, when the first prototype system was built by National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, England (P-Cable1). In 2007 P-Cable 3D Seismic AS had a joint industry project with Hydro/Statoil to build a fully digital system (P-Cable2). The system was tested and proven in 2007 and the first commercial survey was undertaken in 2009. In 2010 P-Cable 3D Seismic AS, in partnership with Geometrics Inc., launched the next generation system, the P-Cable3.
